Position Title

Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways Coordinator

Position Summary

The Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways Coordinator is a member of the Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship team and is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of dual credit and flexible learning development and delivery. This position works closely with School Divisions, Associate Deans, Learning Designers, and supports students and faculty in the development, delivery, and navigation of dual credit and flexible learning offerings at RDP.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways Coordinator include:

Coordination of Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways – Instructional Design and Delivery

  • Working directly with the Manager, Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways, a Learning Designer, Dual Credit instructors and educators from partner School Divisions supports course development and delivery for online and in person Dual Credit courses, programs and on campus immersive exploratory experiences for middle school and high school students.
  • Supports the alignment of post-secondary course content, course delivery, rigour, and grading schemas to high school outcomes, delivery expectations and the developmental needs of learners, who are minors, enrolled in Dual Credit programming.
  • Applies pedagogical best practices for online course development and delivery. This includes providing insights into design, delivery and assessment methods and program evaluation techniques.
  • Supports faculty through the design and delivery phases emphasizing student development, teaching approaches, design, and academic advising strategies.
  • Supports the instructor in guiding high school students—many of whom are first-time post-secondary learners—through the dual credit process with sensitivity to their developmental needs.
  • Advocates for equitable access to post-secondary level coursework addressing social-emotional learning, equity, and inclusion— and supporting diverse student populations effectively.
  • Measures student success and applies learning to the renewal and redesign of course and delivery approaches.

Coordination of Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways – Operational Support for Course/Program Design and Delivery

  • Under direction of Manager, Dual Credit and Flexible Learning Pathways, aligns RDP policies, procedures, and processes to course and program offerings. Dual Credit programming is typically offset from the standard RDP academic schedule. Workarounds for offset processes are coordinated through this position. Special considerations are required when applying policies, procedures and processes to minors.
  • Liaises with school division partners and RDP support and service areas to progress dual credit students through the delivery of online and in person courses, and immersive on campus learning experiences. This includes, but is not limited to: recruitment, registration, retention, timetabling, grade reporting, placements, vulnerable sector checks, media releases, coordination of lockers and reporting.
  • Acts as a central point of contact for regional partners including School Divisions and Campus Alberta Central for trouble shooting and reporting:
    • Monitors student progression and identifies students at risk
    • Monitors and reports grades
    • Submits weekly reports to schools on student progression and success
    • Coordinates on campus activities such as access to classrooms, labs, lockers and parking
    • Troubleshoots technology and access issues including MFA issues
    • Provides orientation sessions for students and high school teachers; online and in person.
  • Collects, collates, and presents statistics on course offerings, student completion and success.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Responsible for the content development and resource creation related to dual credit and flexible delivery including the Dual Credit Website, MyRDP Dual Credit Channel, online student and school support training courses, Dual Credit Student handbook and other resources as required.
  • Maintains regular, open communication with high school teachers, counselors, and administrators relaying information about student success and risk factors related to learning and discusses pedagogical mitigation tactics.
  • Ensures accuracy, relevancy and timeliness of communication from the Dual Credit office to the Polytechnic community, School Divisions, regional stakeholders and other internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous Growth and Acquisition of New Skills

  • Actively participates in training and professional development activities as they become available.

  • Actively acquires knowledge and skills related to the position.

  • Familiarizes self with policy and procedures to meet user needs immediately without misleading or misdirecting.

  • Performs duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Four (4) year Bachelor of Education Degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent.

  • Over two (2) up to three (3) years of previous job-related experience

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in K-12 as an educator.

  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment for K-12 learners.

  • Demonstrated understanding of dual credit, flexible learning, and career pathway models.

  • Knowledge of dual credit policies and student support best practices.

  • Experience with student advising, data analysis, and program evaluation is an asset.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Familiarity with student information systems and educational software (e.g., Banner).

  • Proven ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, educators, and administrators.
