Job Description
The Collateral Management team within the Investment Operations department is responsible for managing and overseeing the exchange of collateral related to a broad set of investments, which includes Futures, Options, OTC Derivatives, Centrally Cleared Derivatives, Repos, Prime Brokerage, and Securities Borrow & Lend. The team plays a critical role in advancing CPP Investments' collateral capabilities, ensuring process efficiency, and maintaining strong internal and external partnerships.
As a Manager, Collateral Operations, you will lead a team responsible for executing and enhancing the day-to-day operations of collateral management. You will ensure collateral processes are efficient, well-controlled, and support the enterprise’s investment strategies. This role emphasizes team development, operational scalability, and strategic collaboration across Investment Operations, Investment Departments, Risk, Total Fund Management, and Finance.
Accountabilities:

Oversee daily collateral management and settlement processes: Ensure timely and accurate collateral exchanges and settlements across various asset classes including derivatives and securities lending, resolving issues as they arise.

Advance operational capabilities: Identify opportunities to evolve, standardize, and scale collateral processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop and maintain documentation: Ensure policies, procedures, and business process documentation are comprehensive, current, and support consistent execution and internal controls.

Support strategic and business planning: Collaborate with leadership to contribute to departmental strategy, operational planning, and team goal setting.

Build and maintain stakeholder relationships: Manage internal partnerships with Investment, Treasury, FAR, and Technology teams, and external relationships with service providers, custodians, and brokers.

Drive team development and performance: Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members, fostering a high-performing and engaged team culture.

Contribute to project and change initiatives: Coordinate with internal teams to deliver collateral-related projects and enhancements, ensuring alignment with business needs and timelines.

Monitor operational metrics and performance: Define and track key performance indicators to assess efficiency, control quality, and service standards.
Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in operational roles within a financial institution or investment organization, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Professional designation such as CFA or CAIA is considered an asset.

Strong understanding of capital markets and investment products, particularly derivatives and collateralized instruments.

Experience in operational controls, process optimization, and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset, ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving business and technology landscapes.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead within cross-functional environments.
