About the role

Would you like to act as a mini-CFO for a portfolio of high-growth software businesses, with a clear path to the top that isn't blocked by anyone else's timeline?

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Canadian technology and software group, a dynamic portfolio company within a well-established, publicly traded parent. With a large number of independently managed software companies, the group offers a unique environment focused on long-term growth, strategic acquisitions, and operational excellence.

This is a highly visible, portfolio-facing role for a candidate who wants to sit alongside a Portfolio CEO and CTO as part of a small executive team, rather than simply report numbers up the chain.

Key responsibilities and oversight

Act as the primary finance partner for a defined subset of the group's operating businesses ($20m–$30m net revenue), providing financial insights and challenging assumptions alongside executive leadership. Lead financial reporting and management reporting across the portfolio. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Manage acquisition accounting and purchase price allocation (PPA) processes in support of ongoing M&A activity. Support operational efficiency initiatives, including process improvements and analysis. Lead a team of 5–6 finance professionals, including a high-performing offshore team. Ensure compliance with IFRS standards and assist in revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, and related technical accounting areas. Help shape the integration of AI agents into finance processes as part of a broader push through 2026.

The company is offering a strong compensation package including an attractive base salary, and annual performance bonus. Full remuneration details to be disclosed to all candidates under consideration.

The successful candidate will possess the following

CPA designation with public accounting experience, ideally within financial reporting, statement preparation, and management reporting. Proven experience working with IFRS, revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, and M&A integration. Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional or distributed teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to interact effectively with executive leadership. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting strategic growth initiatives. Experience working with publicly traded companies is preferred but not mandatory. An interest in modern finance tooling, including AI-driven process improvement.

All interested candidates should submit their résumé for consideration by applying directly to this posting or via email at careers@caconsultants.ca — one of our consultants will contact you directly. We welcome the résumé of any CPA currently seeking new opportunities.
