About the role
If you have experience as a lift mechanic and have demonstrated leadership skills, we are looking for you to join our team as a Lift Maintenance Lead Hand. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate a team of lift mechanics to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our ski lifts, providing a top-notch experience for our guests. Compensation Information: $41.51 to $43.53 per hour (depending on experience)
Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; both in an indoor and outdoor setting.

Skills You Bring With You
- Journeyman Millwright or Heavy Duty Mechanic with 3 years previous passenger ropeway experience. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Available to work early mornings, days, evenings, night shift, all days of the week as required.
- Able to work hours required to ensure lead coverage is in place whenever lifts are in operation.
- Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors Act & Regulations course.
- Complete lift courses: Lift 151, 152, and 153.
- CGSB Non-Destructive Testing MPI Level II certification considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC current regulations.
- Must be able to maintain a calm, professional manner and make good decisions in stressful situations.
- Able to communicate professionally and cooperate well with all members of the department, outside departments, and guests at all times.
- Ability to handle heavy, indoor and outdoor physical requirements.
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work at excessive heights.
- Strong Leadership qualities, safety oriented, professional, dependable, timely and co-operative, and a strong sense of responsibility at all times.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; must submit Driver’s license abstract annually.
- Good vision and enthusiasm for growing and moving the department company forward.
- Strong desire to develop a career in the ski industry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assume full direction of the Lift Maintenance department in the absence of the Lift Maintenance Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Extend the highest degree of courtesy, respect, and professionalism in all dealings with SPRLLP management, staff, co-workers, and guests at all times, including when not on duty.
- Strive for Lift Maintenance standards in all areas that are at or exceed high industry standards.
- Oversee all scheduled and unscheduled lift maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the Z-98 code.
- Authorize lift down responses such as use of APU, Evac, and Rope evac when required and ensure applicable parties are informed and provided with required applicable information.
- Create and maintain work schedules.
- Remain familiar with and well versed in all applicable S.O.G.’s and emergency response plans.
- Run daily safety and duty meetings and complete applicable meeting records when required.
- Maintain CMMS scheduling of maintenance, PM’s, shift assignments, maintenance record keeping, and invoice processing.
- Coordinate grip work and carrier work, ensure reports are complete and filed, and schedules are followed.
- Ensure forms and check sheets are complete and filed correctly in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain edge auditor lift logs sheets, reviewing and updating regularly.
- Assist in the maintenance of shop supplies, spare parts inventories, and organization of inventory.
- Coordinate training and certification opportunities.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of workers and implementing safety requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor contractor work as required; complete and file required records.
- Operate within budget constraints as a priority on a continual basis.
- Assist with implementation and progression of EMS.
- Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment. Strive for shops, tools and equipment to always be presentable.
