POSITION SUMMARY

TheStaff Accommodation Maintenance Superintendentis responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational condition of all employee housing facilities at Deerhurst Resort. This role ensures that staff accommodation buildings, units, and common areas are safe, functional, and maintained to a high standard.

The Superintendent oversees preventative maintenance, coordinates repairs, performs general maintenance tasks, and ensures that building systems and infrastructure are operating effectively. The role works closely with the Facilities, Maintenance, and Human Resources teams to support safe and reliable employee housing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs within staff accommodation units and common areas including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from residents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to appliances, fixtures, doors, locks, lighting, and heating systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies required for repairs.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for staff housing facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of accommodation units, hallways, mechanical systems, and building exteriors.
  • Identify potential maintenance issues and proactively address them before they escalate
  • Ensure building systems such as heating, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems remain operational.
  • Monitor the overall condition of accommodation buildings, grounds, and shared spaces.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or major maintenance work.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance requirements including HVAC servicing, winterization, and exterior upkeep.
  • Ensure waste management areas and shared facilities are maintained properly.
  • Prepare units for new occupants including cleaning coordination, minor repairs, painting, and inspections.
  • Ensure units are move-in ready and fully functional prior to occupancy.
  • Maintain inventory of furnishings, appliances, and fixtures within staff housing units.
  • Ensure accommodation buildings meet safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular checks of fire safety systems including alarms, extinguishers, and emergency exits.
  • Address safety hazards promptly to ensure a secure living environment.
  • Complete the outdoor maintenance as required including snow removal, lawn care and general grounds maintenance.
  • Perform basic custodial duties of public spaces and facilities including but not limited to washrooms and common areas.
  • Collaborate with all department stakeholders accordingly including but not limited to Housekeeping, Human Resources, Engineering and Grounds for property maintenance needs.
  • Support emergency maintenance response as needed.
  • Maintain records of maintenance work orders and completed repairs.
  • Track maintenance supplies and assist with ordering materials.
  • Provide updates to management regarding facility conditions and maintenance needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5 years of experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, or facilities operations.
  • Experience in hospitality, resorts, staff housing, or multi-unit residential properties is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of general maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic mechanical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues independently.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF POSITION**(include but are not limited to):**

  • Primarily hands-on maintenance work within employee housing buildings.
  • May involve lifting, climbing ladders, and working with maintenance equipment.
  • Occasional evening or weekend response may be required for urgent repairs or facility issues.
