KEY FUNCTION: Provide system administration functions, assist in corporate Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) installations, and work collaboratively with vendors to ensure the integration of imaging systems. Support and troubleshoot all problems related to the integration of the Imaging applications and ensure accurate long-term archive to the Provincial Diagnostic Imaging repository.
REPORTING: Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Medical Imaging Informatics.
DUTIES:
-
Coordinate and participate in the successful selection, analysis, design, planning, risk assessment, implementation, training, maintenance, support, and upgrade of the MI Systems by using best practice project initiatives.
-
Monitor issues that may adversely affect patient care and identify and implement opportunities for increased efficiencies in Medical Imaging.
-
Participate in quality and data management of patient data in all related imaging applications.
-
Develop strategies and follow government body and organizational policies to ensure data is recognized as private, confidential, and protected.
-
Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
-
Contribute to learner development by providing academic support, mentorship, preceptorship and supervision as required.
-
Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
-
Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
-
Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
-
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
-
Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) as a Medical Radiation Technologist (Radiography (R), Nuclear Medicine (NM), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)), Medical Sonographer (DMS) or Radiation Therapy (T) is required.

Post-graduate PACS certification or training courses are preferred.

Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
-
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a Clinical Support department within a health care environment.
-
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with Hospital Information System (HIS) and PACS applications.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
-
Demonstrated superior knowledge of Medical Imaging workflow.
-
Demonstrated superior knowledge of Agfa PACS and Meditech Modules.
-
Demonstrated knowledge of the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards, Health Level Seven International (HL7), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
-
Demonstrated knowledge in areas of professional practice, theoretical frameworks of care delivery, and documentation and trends in health care.
-
Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
-
Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
-
Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
-
Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.

Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.

Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.

Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
