FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the department’s management, the Coordinator performs all the duties required for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, research and development of the Nunavik Sivunitsavut program, including measurement and evaluation, teaching means, and management of human, financial and material resources. In general, this position entails the following responsibilities:
Coordinate and assess the implementation of the Nunavik Sivunitsavut programs.
Coordinate the development of the French Nunavik Sivunitsavut program in accordance with the goals and objectives of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq and the Nunavik Sivunitsavut Advisory Committee.
Participate in the recruitment and hiring of professionals and support staff.
Coordinate the activities required for forwarding marks to John Abbott College and other partners.
Liaise with partner organizations, John Abbott College, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec (MEES), Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), Nunavut Sivunitsavut, and other relevant organizations.
Supervise and evaluate staff under his or her responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive position. A master’s degree is an asset.
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
The School Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
Written and oral fluency in two (2) of the three (3) languages of the Board (Inuktitut, French, English).
Extensive knowledge of post-secondary education.
Extensive knowledge of Indigenous education.
Strong communication skills, ability to lead and motivate teams.
Experience dealing with external institutions such as government agencies.
Ability to travel to Nunavik occasionally.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Class 00-08 as per the working conditions of Kativik Ilisarniliriniq managers: from $101,612 to $135,480 annually depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.

About Kativik School Board
The Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, the school board of Nunavik, was created in 1975, under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA).
Under the JBNQA, the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is granted the power and jurisdiction to develop and deliver specific educational services and programs consistent with Inuit culture. The mission of the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is therefore twofold. On the one hand, it acts as a regular regional school board for all Nunavik residents. On the other hand, it also acts as an exclusive Inuit institution with unique powers and jurisdictions that aim to protect, maintain, and develop the Inuit language, culture, and way of life.
Since 1978, the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq has been the exclusive provider of academic services to the population of Nunavik. The education programs developed by the school board are offered in all schools of the 14 Nunavik communities, in Inuktitut as first language and in French and English as second languages. The school board operates 17 primary and secondary schools as well as 5 adult education center.
