About the role

DUTIES Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Maintenance/Gardener is responsible for the general maintenance repair (plumbing, mechanical and

carpentry duties etc.), grounds keeping, operating machinery and custodial equipment within the UCN The Pas campus and UCN sites.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to day-to-day building and grounds maintenance, responding to and reporting maintenance

requests, conducting regular walk-throughs of the buildings and sites, and taking appropriate actions as required. Responsibilities also include

performing minor maintenance repairs, responding to emergency calls for assistance when necessary and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with gardening/groundskeeping tasks including maintenance and repair of gardening/snow removal equipment and safe

operation of mowers, weeding equipment, snow blowers and other grounds maintenance equipment

  • Experience operating automotive equipment, machinery, hand and power tools, in a safe manner
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of safe use and application of chemicals (i.e. WHMIS)
  • Effective time management skills including the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while organizing work, meeting deadlines, and

follow through on tasks until completion

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS

  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language

  • First Aid -CPR Certificate

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

  • Occasional travel may be required
