The Job

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie is hiring a Marketing & Communications Intern to assist with promoting our fundraisers, projects, and membership throughout the year to our community. The successful candidate will work closely with Rotarians and fellow staff to maximize Rotary’s impact.

Responsibilities:

Create, execute, and report on marketing strategies for:

  • Rotary events (ROTARYFEST, Rotary Santa Claus Parade, STEM Fair)
  • Rotary fundraising (Bell Skate, Golf Tournament)
  • Club advancement (membership recruitment, general public relations, internal communications)

Leverage the following in their marketing strategies, including content creation, copywriting, photography, design, scheduling and booking:

  • Online advertising
  • Social media advertising (organic and paid)
  • Email communications (internal and external)
  • Websites
  • Media releases
  • Radio ads
  • TV ads
  • Newspaper/print ads
  • Signage (posters, lawn signs, billboards)

Assist at events/fundraisers as required

The Candidate

We are looking for a creative individual with strong communication and organization skills who enjoys being part of a small team. This job is also a learning opportunity, and Rotary will provide training to cover gaps in experience for the right candidate.

If you have any of the following skills, please include them in your cover letter or resume:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, or Google Docs and Sheets
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or Canva
  • Any knowledge of video creation (planning, shooting, editing)
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in business, marketing, PR, or design
  • Past volunteer or work experience with a non-profit

Our regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Throughout the year, a number of our events will require work in the evenings and on weekends. The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie runs many annual projects of varying sizes and programs, which will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to expand their knowledge of marketing and communications.
