Intermediate Mechanical Designer

Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for building projects.
- Support the design of industrial systems such as process ventilation, compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems.
- Prepare concept designs, layouts, and Revit/AutoCAD models to communicate design intent.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations and assist with energy modeling coordination.
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Review drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure quality and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and conducting site reviews.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design excellence and consistency across deliverables.
- Contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives, including LEED and other green building standards.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and team members to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering, with experience in buildings and facilities. Experience with industrial projects or automotive facilities would be considered beneficial.
- Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP is required; experience with 3D design tools and MicroStation is an asset. Proficiency in ACC or BIM360 would also be considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems, as well as applicable codes (BC Building Code, Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, ASHRAE).
- Experience with TSSA Fuel & Pressure Vessel codes and industrial ventilation standards is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Experience with projects in the BC region is preferred, with project experience across Canada and within Quebec would be an advantage.
- LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable design would be considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship and must have a valid driver’s license.

The salary range for this position is CAD66,000 - CAD99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
