Goodness Me! is seeking a motivated Junior Category Manager to curate quality products, support category success, and develop your skills under the guidance of experienced mentors.
Your day-to-day:
In this role, you will manage a small product portfolio to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction while supporting the success of our category team. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop strong vendor relationships, and execute strategic plans to maintain our competitive edge.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Curate high-quality natural food products and occasionally select fresh foods based on quality.
- Collaborate with Category Managers in all day-to-day functions.
- Develop and execute strategies that drive sales, optimize profitability, and achieve category targets.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of assortment, pricing, competitor performance, market trends, and financial data to inform category strategies and plans.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and emerging product segments to maintain a leadership position in healthy food retail.
- Determine pricing strategies, manage promotions, and execute merchandising plans that align with financial objectives.
- Support in building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, including negotiating costs, programs, and contracts.
- Work cross-functionally with procurement to ensure inventory accuracy and alignment with company standards.
- Maintain accurate data for costing, pricing, and governance, including regular competitor price checks and updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- 2+ years experience in grocery retail required
- 2-5 years of operational experience
- 2+ years of experience negotiating with vendors
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite – Excel is a must and PowerBI is a plus
- Proficient in Smartsheet
- 1-2 years experience working with ERP at site level
- A current driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and manage multiple projects with a broad workload
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
