The Opportunity

Reporting to the Community Food Partnership Supervisor, the Program Associate will lead program administration and carry out regular tasks including creation and distribution of food orders from the many charitable partners of the Calgary Food Bank. This role will be crucial to the success of the Calgary Food Bank’s community food partnerships by maintaining regular communication with program partners and ensuring smooth program delivery.

What You’ll Do

Primary responsibilities:

  • Carry out tasks related to program delivery with a focus on performing administrative tasks which are crucial to the operation of the programs.
  • Problem solve and provide leadership and direction to volunteers and staff ensuring consistency with the mission and vision of the Calgary Food Bank.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure that food orders placed by community partners are filled accurately and great service is provided.

Tasks performed:

  • Process orders for various food partnership programs.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to delivery of all Calgary Food Bank programs, as required.
  • Work directly with Calgary Food Bank clients if required, supporting them through intake and pickup of food hampers while providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data and records.
  • Collaborate with other Calgary Food Bank departments to maximize program opportunities and ensure consistent and quality program delivery.
  • Supervise and train volunteers on daily tasks related to community food partnership programs.
  • Resolve community partner complaints/inquiries.
  • Communicate with partner organizations and internal stakeholders about program developments and changes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • A degree in relevant fields is considered an asset (Community Development, Social Work, Nutrition and Food Science or other related fields)

  • Knowledge of non-profit sector in Calgary is an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience in being persistently creative in generating new ideas for systems’ improvement.

  • Proficient in a variety of computer applications including databases and Microsoft Office 365.

  • Skills related to process improvement and use of technology to streamline administrative tasks would be considered an asset.

Working Schedule and Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Some tasks will require you to be in a warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
