Pay Range:$26.44 – $31.25/hourly

The Operations Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Group’s household and commercial relocations business. Based out of the Kingston head office and serving as a core member of the Group’s management team, this role oversees fleet, dispatch, and service delivery across all locations. Working closely with Supervisors, Dispatchers, and other managers, the Operations Manager ensures that Moving & Storage services are delivered with high quality, efficiency, and profitability, this role also requires the candidate to have a valid DZ or AZ license with a clean driving history.

Key Responsibilities

**1.**Service Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee and coordinate dispatching of crews and fleet for local and long‑distance moves, office relocations, and commercial projects.
  • Ensure efficient resource deployment and coordinate with the office furniture installation division when required.
  • Communicate and liaise regularly with Van Line personnel.
  • Ensure punctual dispatch, timely response, and effective problem‑solving for all service issues.
  • Maintain strong communication channels between office staff and job sites to ensure accurate, timely updates.
  • Work with the VP and Trainer to develop and implement a practical Quality Management program.
  • Create and maintain resource and capacity forecasts (people, fleet, equipment) and communicate needs to senior leadership.
  • Manage tight deadlines and proactively plan resources to minimize disruptions.
  • Redirect and reorganize resources effectively when issues arise.
  • Establish and enforce policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, customers, partners, van line members, and service providers.

**2.**Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead, coach, and mentor Operations teams, including field staff, supervisors, administrators, and warehouse supervisors.
  • Review and approve timecards, scheduling, and time‑off requests; coordinate with HR to address employee issues in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Ensure performance management processes are utilized effectively.
  • Coordinate ongoing training, in‑service learning, and new hire onboarding with the Trainer to maintain service standards.
  • Support company communication across field teams to ensure alignment and clarity.

**3.**Oversight, Compliance & Business Operations

  • Identify, recommend, and implement operational improvements and process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the VP – Moving & Storage and Sales to develop pricing strategies.
  • Oversee daily security and maintenance of all locations.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, ensuring appropriate staffing levels at each facility.
  • Oversee the Group’s fleet, including maintenance scheduling, incident response, procurement, and branding of new vehicles/equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and all Health & Safety protocols at company and customer premises.
  • Complete required operational reports and safety documentation.
  • Support company‑wide policy compliance and awareness.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed, including responding to calls and processing emails/documentation.
  • Thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure work environment, meeting all job requirements reliably.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post‑secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
  • Bondable.
  • Ability to obtain enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Clean criminal record check.
  • Satisfactory driving record check.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.

Relevant/Beneficial Experience

  • Operations or staff management experience.
  • Human Resources or supervisory experience.
  • Transportation, logistics, moving, and/or storage industry background.
  • Customer service or account management experience.
  • Must hold DZ or AZ license with clear drivers abstract.
