Summary
DMC is currently looking for a Buyer to join our team on a contract basis, based in Sudbury, Ontario. The Buyer will be responsible for the day-to-day purchasing of materials for the project, being accountable for the effective operation of project procurement activities to fulfill the PO lifecycle, including but not limited to sourcing of goods and services; contract drafting; PO placement, expediting and closeout. The Buyer will work closely with suppliers, Operation (OPS) team and the Accounts Payable (AP) department to ensure smooth, efficient procurement operations while ensuring proper vendor communication and prompt payment of invoices. This position will be accountable for ensuring procurement activities are compliant with the contract between DMC and Client. The Procurement Buyer will be responsible for ensuring that POs are created accurately, updated as necessary, and closed in a timely manner and will conduct all business matters with the highest degree of ethics, discretion, honesty, fairness, and sound business practices as per industry standards and DMC Mining Services Policies and Procedures.
Responsibilities
Identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products/services to determine their suitability for the project. Identify opportunities for cost savings through supplier negotiation, consolidation, and alternative sourcing methods. Ensure accurate creation of Purchase Orders (POs) in the ERP system, including expected delivery dates. Monitor PO commitments and address any discrepancies or issues. Manage and maintain all relevant supplier documentation. Manage and maintain all supplier documentation for material suppliers. Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations in all purchasing activities. Maintain an accurate ledger, for auditing purposes, and assist Accounts Payable (AP) in working with the vendor to resolve invoicing discrepancies. Revise and verify Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensure the timely sourcing and delivery of materials as per Project requests. Close POs on an ongoing basis, ensuring that all POs are finalized before the closure of a project.
Qualifications
5 years of experience in purchasing. Experience and knowledge of contract formation, warehousing functions, and inventory control are considered an asset. Degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field considered an asset. Proven experience as a buyer or procurement specialist in a similar industry. Strong communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks at any given time. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.
Additional Information
We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy. Salary Range is expected to be between: $60,000 to $80,000 CAD (including hourly incentive bonus). Comprehensive benefits and retirement plan. This role will be performed onsite. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge/skills, and experience.

1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%.
2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada.
2015 DMC's Jansen team performed the first ever installation of shaft tubing using a robotic arm called the Blairmore Ring Erector (BRE).
