Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Informatics and IT Applications, the Business and Application Analyst plays an instrumental role in supporting, maintaining, optimizing, and implementing IT applications. The successful candidate will leverage knowledge of system design, computer science, and healthcare environments to ensure applications are implemented in alignment with organization needs.

The Business and Application Analyst acts as a liaison between IT and Patient Care Services (PCS), Corporate Services, and Physicians with regards to IT applications. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the the digital health initiatives in the organization.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, implement and evaluate information technology applications, tools, and processes to align with best practices and improve usability
  • Use evidence based best practice to design or implement clinical and corporate applications to resolve clinical or health care administrative problems
  • Collaborate with other members of the Clinical Informatics, Technical Services and Data Management teams in Health Information Technology to maintain, manage, modify and monitor systems.
  • Support, maintain, and optimize the Hospital Information System as required
  • Assess customer needs, analyze workflows, identify gaps/areas of concern, and provide recommendations for improvements in the format of business case type recommendations, from manual to the optimal use of technology solutions
  • Act as the first point of contact for system support and provide front line support for all clinical and corporate applications
  • Analyze application problems and recommend modifications
  • Escalate system issues to appropriate resources as required to ensure timely resolution
  • Work collaboratively with external vendors to help mitigate issues, upgrade systems, or implement new systems
  • Facilitate in person end user system training
  • Provide ongoing education, awareness, and communication to ensure utilization and maximize efficiency for the systems we support
  • Provide system level access and ongoing access reviews based on defined guidelines and in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements

Qualifications:

  • University degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in healthcare, Clinical Informatics or related discipline, required
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of healthcare applications (ex. Nurse Call, RTLS, CareEvent, Meditech, etc.), preferred
  • Experience working with Hospital Information Systems including Meditech Client Server 5.6.7, preferred
  • Knowledge and training in adult education and/or demonstrated skill in teaching/facilitating is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, change management knowledge and experience, conceptual and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultation skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment
