About the Job

As our Quality Control Chemist, you’ll report directly to the Manager of Quality Assurance & Quality Control and play a key role in maintaining product excellence and operational efficiency. You'll be at the intersection of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Operations—supporting production, optimizing processes, and scaling up new products. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Responsible for completing Quality Control for all products manufactured in Burlington; issues COAs, monitors Statistical Process Control charts (SPCs), and proactively identifies and addresses any product quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC Manager on scale-up and commercialization of new products by monitoring specifications and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Actively contributes to the Walker Emulsions’ Quality Management System (QMS) development and its implementation in operations.
  • Supports Operations with quality concerns, technical inquiries, process optimization initiatives and trouble shooting.
  • Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of the different raw materials, processes, and products, for relevant product lines to support Operations, R&D, Sales, and Technical Services as needed.
  • Supports Work Order Projects by performing, analyzing and reporting of the experiments. Works closely together with R&D to meet deadlines.
  • Leads assigned Quality, Production Quality and Customer Quality Work Orders. Leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) identification, implementation and follow-up of the approved ones. Documents information, drafts and submits reports at the established deadlines.
  • Manages and maintains assigned analytical equipment in the QC laboratory.

Here’s What You Need

  • B.Sc. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline, or a College Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in Quality Control (Experience in asphalt emulsions is a strong an asset).
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety and environmental regulations
  • Strong foundation in chemistry and/or chemical engineering necessary to understand formulations.
  • Solid knowledge of Statistics and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to effectively monitor all aspects of product and process, and to develop reports and presentations.
