The Facilities Specialist, Fitness Equipment, plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of fitness and recreational equipment across the Association. This position requires a proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining equipment functionality during peak usage times, and supporting operational efficiency through meticulous record-keeping and inventory management. Collaboration with the Service Team and participation in training opportunities are essential to staying ahead of technological advancements and delivering excellence.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out emergency and Program Equipment Maintenance services as needed across the Association.
- Manage additional technical tasks, including AV equipment repairs and troubleshooting network issues, to ensure seamless operations.
- Track and record all work done and inventory used to complete repairs.
- Identify issues and concerns related to the use and care of all Health, Fitness, and Recreation (HFR) equipment.
- Participate as a supportive member of the Service Team; remain flexible in scheduling and understand key times for equipment usage, including peak times of the day, weeks, seasonal changes, and unexpected changes in member patterns.
- Be an active part of the Service Delivery Team of the Association.
- Participate in task groups, special assignments, staff and full team meetings, and opportunities that further the Association’s mission, vision, strategic initiatives, and best business practices.
- Report travel mileage from the regular workplace to other sites and submit to the supervisor monthly.
- Attend in-person or online training to stay current with technology trends and advances.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You bring:
- Certification from Life Fitness, Cybex, Keiser, or similar manufacturer, with a working knowledge of their equipment maintenance, an asset.
- Training and knowledge of equipment maintenance systems, with a minimum of one year of experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to document and follow work orders, prepare and monitor inventory, and prepare month-end reports using appropriate software.
- Experience using mechanical skills and judgment to assess and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fitness equipment operation and maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of YMCA systems, policies, and standards, an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of service requirements of the Association, an asset.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Excellent organizational skills; actively seeks involvement in partnerships and collaborations; a team player.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and communicate excellently with members, staff, and volunteers; excellent written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle are a must for this position, as extensive travel within the Greater Toronto Area is required.
