Diagnostic Medical Sonography Curriculum Development (Part-Time)

Faculty/Instructor Profile

The School of Health and Wellness at RDP is currently inviting applications for part-time curriculum developers in the generalist Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma Program.

The generalist Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma program is a two-year diploma that prepares the graduate to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer following graduation and successful completion Sonography Canada credentialing exams.

The generalist Diagnostic Medical Sonography program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship and commitment to student success.

RDP began offering a newly approved Generalist Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma in Fall 2025, and we are looking for experienced Sonographers to work with our team to continue developing content for this program.

RDP offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective disciplines.

The deliverables related to this Program Development contract will be tied to specific dates throughout the process. The average time for the development of a single course is 5 – 6 weeks. The developer should expect to spend approximately 10hours per week on contract-related tasks.

Development begins You will attend scheduled kick-off meetings with the Associate Dean and Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS) to discuss contract deliverables and supports within the first week of your contract start date.

Position Responsibilities

Course Planning Map

  • Use the current and approved course curriculum elements sheet (CES) and the required RDP Planning Map to design assigned courses.

Mid-contract check-in with Associate Dean and****CTLS

  • Continue to use the current and approved course curriculum elements sheet (CES) and the RDP Planning Map to complete assigned courses.
  • Completion of planning map will contain fully developed suitable assessments and learning activities (including rubrics where feasible) and all necessary quiz/exam questions and answers.
  • Create a proposed course outline.
  • Provide update to Learning Designer and your Associate Dean.

The Course Planning Map is complete and submitted for review and the Blackboard course build begins

  • Course Planning map is submitted to an Educational Multimedia Specialist to build the course in Blackboard.
  • Learning activities are incorporated into Blackboard.
  • Develop suitable assessments (including rubrics where feasible).
  • Create a proposed course outline.
  • Complete the Gradebook in Blackboard

Quality Review

  • Revisions made as needed.

The Course Master is built in Blackboard and submitted to the CTLS and Associate Dean for review.

Required Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in good standing with Sonography Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Instructional and Curriculum Development experience

Benefits and Compensation Information

This position also offers an additional 14% of the gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
