Scope and Responsibilities
WINS Retail Ready Employment Program provides training and work experience to enable Albertans to find and maintain employment within the retail industry. This program endeavors to facilitate self-sufficiency, shape values and attitudes, increase confidence, grow skills and develop retail competencies.
The Retail Ready Facilitator will work directly with program participants providing classroom instructions and warehouse employment skills. The facilitator will be an expert; experienced in all aspects of warehouse operations and have a desire to train and mentor others towards excellence in the retail industry. We are looking for a Retail Ready Facilitator at our Beltline location.
This role functions within the 6-week Retail Ready Program which includes 4 weeks of classroom instruction and 2 weeks of practical work experience. The Retail Ready Facilitator works a fluctuating schedule during the 4-week instructional segment of the service intake.
Specific and Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the Employment Service Coordinator and Employment Support Worker in the delivery of Retail Ready program to participants within WINS thrift stores.
- Support classroom instruction on topics related to the retail industry.
- Demonstrate retail skills to participants, ensuring clarity, understanding of concepts and procedures.
- Supervise participants while in the Thrift Store, giving direction and feedback.
- Contribute to the assessment and evaluation of participant’s retail competency level by completing weekly assessments for participants, communicating concerns directly to the Employment Service Coordinator and Employment Support Worker.
- Provide feedback and suggestions on ways to improve the Retail Ready Program.
- Represent and promote the Retail Ready Program.
Requirements:
- Must be a current employee of WINS.
- Must be available to work according to Retail Ready requirements, a flexible schedule is essential.
- Proven leadership, mentoring skills, patience, and understanding.
- Outstanding customer service skills and ease in dealing with the public and with participants.
- Able to be consistent in skill instruction and objective in assessing participants skill level.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate in English.
- Must be physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods of time (entire shift).
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs individually and 100lbs as a member of a team.
