You will:

Provide expertise on contract matters and ensure consistent management of contracts.

Provide advice and support on a range of managerial, technical, and contractual matters related to construction contracts.

Handle complex issues related to contract administration, interpretation, performance and disputes.

Undertake special assignments or studies involving such issues as service delivery methods and related staffing and organization.

Review contract standards.

Implement new technologies related to construction.
Meet Your New Team
The Construction Management Office oversees and supports the delivery of the construction program of our provincial transportation network, while partnering with our Design and Engineering Branch to deliver consistent, specified approaches when constructing and maintaining highway assets.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements:
- Must be licensed to practice with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Leadership Experience:

- Team Management: You supervise and develop diverse teams of professional, technical, and support staff, effectively resolving personnel and labour relations issues.

- Compliance Oversight: You ensure compliance with legislative statutes, collective agreements, and ministry/government directives, policies, and commitments.
- Political Acumen: You exercise sound judgment and political acuity to offer authoritative advice to senior leadership.
Technical Expertise:
- Engineering Knowledge: You bring advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles related to transportation corridor and structure design and construction.
- Contract Administration: You apply engineering and administrative policies to manage construction contracts and resolve disputes with consultants and contractors.
- Standards and Policy Application: You ensure technical consistency and service quality through the application of ministry standards and procedures.
- Analytical Thinking: You assess technical recommendations and operational plans with strong analytical skills and alignment to government policies.
Project and Operational Management:
- Project Oversight: You manage complex construction projects and resolve engineering challenges under pressure.
- Financial and Contract Monitoring: You oversee construction expenditures, invoicing, and contract compliance in accordance with ministry financial procedures.
- Resource Management: You supervise construction staff and manage human, financial, and material resources to support regional operations.
- Problem Solving: You demonstrate initiative and critical thinking to address and resolve complex engineering and operational issues.
Communication and Relationship Management Skills:
- Stakeholder Engagement: You build respectful, ethical relationships with stakeholders.
- Issues Management: You navigate sensitive issues with diplomacy and provide strategic advice to senior leadership.
- Communication: You prepare clear, concise reports, briefings, and presentations on operational matters.
