Summary DMC is currently looking for an Electrical Superintendent to join our team on a FIFO Schedule , based in our Cadomin, AB - CA project site. The Electrical Superintendent will be accountable to lead the Electrical Team to ensure that the electrical and instrumentation equipment for shaft and shaft-related infrastructure are installed and commissioned safely, as per plan and within budget. The Electrical Superintendent shall also ensure the adequate availability of this equipment electrically.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Mechanical Superintendent.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments to ensure the project schedule is met. Monitor contractors, trade performance, progress and productivity. Coordinate plans with field engineers and supervisors to overcome any inconsistencies.
  • Maintain the daily performance and goals in a project.
  • Coordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced correctly.
  • Supervise and mentor other supervisors and employees by planning, organizing and communicating company policies, work standards and Health & Safety objectives along with training for all positions to achieve efficient operations and meet legislation.
  • Manage the Project Electrical Budget.
  • Ensure all equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance inspections are performed and acted upon to achieve the highest production volume.
  • Ensure day-to-day development, communication, implementation and daily administration of the mechanical operations.
  • Serve as the company’s representative responsible for continuous field supervision, coordination, and completion of work.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation is met or exceeded.
  • Responsible for managing their staff, including: monitoring performance including day-to-day coaching and providing performance feedback, performance appraisals, and initiating disciplinary action if required (including maintaining notes/documentation required to support).

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
  • Licensed Electrician in the province of Ontario.
  • 7 or more years of management experience.
  • Experience in large-scale plant construction projects.
  • Excellent computer skills including; MS Office.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

1980 The company was founded in 1980 as Dynatec Mining Limited. In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world.

1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%.

2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada.
