Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Cloud Solution Architect specializing in AWS to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based infrastructure solutions that provision our enterprise strategy. This role will be accountable for driving cloud adoption, ensuring secure and resilient architectures, and guiding cross-functional teams in leveraging AWS services effectively. The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect with strong infrastructure, networking, security, and automation expertise, as well as the propensity to align solutions with business needs and enterprise roadmaps.
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure & Support Services, you'll play a key role in defining, building, and maintaining our AWS infrastructure, adhering to AWS standards and best practices for Information Services initiatives, and ensuring the strategic alignment with enterprise roadmaps, our business goals and technology standards. What You’ll be Doing:
Architecture & Design
- Design scalable, secure, high-performing, and cost-optimized AWS infrastructure solutions.
- Develop reference architectures, best practices, and reusable frameworks for cloud deployments.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and industry compliance requirements.
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering
- Spearhead AWS infrastructure solution design for new projects, other cloud solutions, or integration with on-premises environments.
- Evaluate on-premises workloads and legacy applications for migration consideration to AWS.
- Define cloud network topology, identity and access management models, and security controls.
- Review Vendor SOW’s to ensure adherence to TCI standards and accuracy to the required work.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, and AWS CloudFormation.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with business stakeholders, developers, security, and operations teams to deliver cloud solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Solution Architects.
- Be the advisor on AWS faculties, cost optimization, and emerging trends.
- Guide the development of new enterprise applications, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and meet all security and compliance needs.
- Participate in architecture reviews and solution assessments.
- Oversee project resources, scheduling, and performance, providing assistance and direction to the Cloud Team.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with peers from other functional areas, external vendors, leaders across the organization, and other Toyota affiliates.
Operations & Governance
- Establish monitoring, observability, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud workloads.
- Oversee the regular operational maintenance projects, including workload allocation to the AWS Team.
- Oversee budgets, purchase orders, vendor and contract management, and daily project related tasks.
- Enforce governance policies for cost management, compliance, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with 5+ years in cloud architecture (AWS focus).
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Strong background in networking (VPC design, Direct Connect, VPN, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (EKS, ECS, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in automation and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Solid knowledge of security best practices (logging, encryption, key management, compliance frameworks).
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, and modern application delivery models. (GIT focus)
Certifications (preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (strongly preferred).
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty or Advanced Networking – Specialty.
- Other relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, CISSP, Kubernetes).
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead and influence across technical and business teams.
