The successful applicant will report to the ProjectManager, of Continuous Improvementin the IT Department. The Application Support Specialist supports the district’s internal applications, databases, and automation platforms. This role provides Level 3 support for enterprise systems and contributes to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of custom tools and platforms. The individual is expected to have foundational full stack development experience and business analysis capabilities to support evolving district needs.

  • Employment - Continuing , Full-time contract (40 hrs/wk)
  • Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support internal applications including Laserfiche, Power Platform solutions, and other custom-developed tools.
  • Assistwith development and troubleshooting of Power Platform and other internally developed solutions.
  • Provide Level 3 support for MSSQL databases, including query writing, performance monitoring, and data integrity checks.
  • Collaborate with theEnterprise Software Engineeron application lifecycle tasks such as testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Participate inrequirementsgathering, partner group interviews, and process mapping to support business analysis efforts.
  • Respond to user requests and issues related to enterprise applications and workflows.
  • Contributes to the design and maintenance of automated business processes.
  • Document systems, configurations, and support procedures.
  • Supervisesand MentorsTSS2 and TSS1 staff, plans, organizes, assigns,schedulesandcoordinateswork.
  • Prepare internal training materials and conduct training to upskill department technicians.
  • Collaborates withDistrict departments, Schools, internalIT,andexternalcontractorsto create world class technology solutions.
  • Provides technical support for a variety ofapplication,softwareand network related problems.
  • Writes process automation scripts for various operating systems such as Macintosh and Windows.Proficient in scripting languages likePowerShell, bash, andVBScript.
  • Maintains, creates,and updates documentation on technology, configurations, specifications, infrastructure,applications,etc.
  • Followsestablished change management procedures. Recommends updates to change managementprocedureswhenappropriate.
  • Assistsschools and theDistrictwith researching and evaluatingnewtechnologiesfor features and functionality and identifiesappropriate solutionsto address changing technology needs.
  • Work with third party vendors to ensure the district receivesappropriate supportfor the subscribed services.
  • Keepsabreastwithdevelopments in technologythroughofferedtraining.
  • Operates tools and equipmentofthe trade.
  • Manage projects within scope of work or assigned by Manager, including planning, scoping,scheduling, risk assessment, and communication withappropriatepartnergroups(ie. School administrators,or Managers)
  • Respond to emergency situations asrequested.
  • Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field, with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Currentor working towards completion (within 3 months) ofMicrosoft Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300) or Equivalentand two of the following certifications:

  • Microsoft

  • Power Platform App Maker Associate

  • Power Platform Developer Associate

  • Azure Data Fundamentals

  • Laserfiche Certification

  • CompTIA Data+

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA).

  • Experiencedeveloping 1 or moresolutionsusingArtificial Intelligenceto automate and improve workflows.

  • Intermediate experience withinstallation, configuration and support of Windows and Macintosh servers and desktops, smartphones, andvarious typesof mobile devices, internet technologies, firewalls, switches, routers and other network and desktop accessories.

  • Intermediateexperienceinthe implementation oflarge-scaleprojectsaffecting5,000or more end users,includingpartner group engagement.

  • Ability to use good judgment and initiative inidentifying,adaptingand applying procedures and approaches to address unusual problem situations and resolve most conflicts.

  • Ability to communicate effectively using tact and discretion in the explanation and clarification of information both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated evidence of sound interpersonal skills with a positive customer-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Intermediate experienceas a full stack developer (e.g., HTML/CSS/JavaScript, SQL, APIs, backend frameworks).

  • Hands-on experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI,etc).

  • Beginnerto intermediate understanding of MSSQL database structure, queries, coding, and performance tuning.

  • Beginnerto intermediateunderstanding ofapplication development, testing, version control, and deployment processes.

  • Intermediate toexpertexperience supporting users and troubleshooting custom-built tools and integrations.

  • Intermediateexperiencegathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions andpartnergroup satisfaction.

  • Familiarity with Laserfiche or other CRM forms, workflows, and repository management.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft M365 and Power Platform Licensing concepts

  • Proficiencyin scripting and low-code development (PowerFx, SQL, JavaScript basics,etc).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solvingabilitiestowork collaboratively with developers and end users.

  • Curiosity and initiative to grow into more advanced development and architecture roles.

  • Physical ability to perform the required duties.

  • Valid B.C. driver's license.
