This role sits within Laurentian Bank Securities, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.
Under the responsibility of the AML/ATF Manager, this person will contribute to maintaining a healthy and effective AML program in compliance to internal policies and standards issued by Laurentian Bank Securities (hereinafter "LBS") and Laurentian Bank Financial Group (hereinafter "the Group").
- 3 month contract
Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) regime under the
- Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and associated regulations.
- Execute ongoing assessments and monitoring of clients to deter and detect Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing activities pursuant to FINTRAC and various other requirements.
- Adjudicate potential matches for sanctioned countries and individuals, PEPs & HIOs and de-marketed clients and take appropriate actions for matches based on existing procedures.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and enhanced due diligence activities for higher risk clients.
- Draft various reports including quarterly ACAMLO, UTR/STR and sanctioned reports and other regulatory reports as required.
- Participate in self-assessments, audits and compliance testing in respect to AML/ATF activities.
- Effectively liaise with other lines of businesses for issue resolution and compliance with action plans to ensure compliance of AML/ATF controls are operationalized in accordance with the Bank or regulatory standards and policies.
- Provide AML/ATF Compliance support and advising on overall AML/ATF risk to the 1st Line.
- Liaise with the 2nd Line and business partners to ensure that major investigations in terms of product, location or client relationships are coordinated and conducted within defined guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various rules and regulations, and of policies and procedures.
- Review and update departmental procedures and processes as required.
- Identify and report to the PCMLTF Manager any potential issues of non-compliance and co-ordinate/monitor for remediation activities.
- Formulate recommendations and propose solutions to improve work processes.
- Support business partners with their activities, projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years' experience in the Financial Services sector ideally in Banking and/or Securities.
- 3-5 years' experience in AML/ATF Compliance and Compliance.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with AML/ATF legislation, FINTRAC guidelines, Bank Act, OSFI
- Guidelines, various securities regulations (MFDA, CIRO and AMF) and other regulatory requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses a natural ability to work collaboratively to meet tight deadlines, overcome challenges and deliver quality results.
- Analytical skills
- Autonomous
- Successful completion of the ACAMS or ACFCS is preferred.
- Bilingual (French and English) is preferred.
