About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on standardizing engineering design execution across projects, emphasizing governance, standardization, and harmonization during the engineering phase. The successful candidate will represent the Engineering Management Office (EMO) in various business initiatives, facilitate training sessions, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor peers. This position is crucial for ensuring consistent project execution across all business units and regional locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain governance for engineering execution of projects across all business units in the US and Canada.
- Develop and maintain engineering governance documents, including procedures, standards, guides, and deliverable templates.
- Streamline engineering execution workflows and optimize processes to ensure consistency in governance documents.
- Represent engineering at workshops and stakeholder reviews to improve process workflows related to project execution governance.
- Facilitate training and awareness sessions for new and updated engineering governance documents.
- Lead stakeholder review meetings, drive discussions, and make decisions on stakeholder comments.
- Collaborate with technical SMEs and engineering contractors to define attributes and taxonomy of various asset types.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the Project Item Master library.
- Review and incorporate change requests to governance documents and participate in peer reviews on key engineering deliverables.
- Conduct Project Health Checks and Stage Gate reviews to ensure compliance with engineering governance.
- Work closely with project execution teams from various business units to achieve goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Process Control Systems, Electrical, or related field).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Experience with renewable energy projects is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of engineering deliverables and interfaces with procurement, contracts, project management, quality, construction, and commissioning.
- Proficiency in office computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong drive for documentation.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with other departments.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in asset management and development of instrumentation specifications and datasheets.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment specification or selection.
- Experience in designing and hardware acceptance testing of control panels, software FATs, and commissioning support of control systems.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and mentor peers.
