Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. The Business Analyst will be based in Halifax, working with various Finance, Risk and IT teams to analyze, translate and document requirements, providing guidance, and recommending solutions.
What will you do?
- Drive requirements discovery and elicitation from Finance and Risk stakeholders from backlog of internal and external requests.
- Plan and Lead requirement discussions, capturing data and business rules requirements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and IT team members (incl. Developers, Architects, PM, QE’s, BA’s) to build consensus and drive towards delivery of the right solution.
- Analyze, translate and document Finance requirements into business and functional specifications for IT Development team.
- Identify relevant upstream and downstream dependencies and follow up with stakeholders for input or sign-offs on a timely basis.
- Develop effort estimates for analysis and requirements activities including BRD preparation and Functional Interface specifications.
- Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members and stakeholders across multiple projects and functions, including Risk Capital and Regulatory Reporting teams, Finance Shared Services and Controller teams, and source data providers and consumer IT teams.
- Provide hands-on support during various cycles of testing including Functional Testing, Quality Assurance, Systems Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Actively contribute to process re-engineering and process improvement
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have :
- 3 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst supporting the delivery of Finance or Risk Reporting solutions, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Data Analysis capacity
- Strong Data Analysis and Data Manipulation Skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel and Access.
- Experience writing SQL queries
- Experience working on cross-business and technology data programs.
- Proficient experience with Software Development Lifecycle process, Agile, Iterative Waterfall and IT terms and methods.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various business and technical teams, including offshore.
Nice to Have :
- Experience at a large banking or financial services organization.
- Strong technical background - ability to read programming languages.
- Financial or Regulatory Reporting experience
