ABOUT THE ROLE – MINING TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST (RED CHRIS BC)

 

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Mining Technical Solutions Specialist based in Red Chris BC working on a 14 day on / 14 day off schedule with 12 hours daily.  This position works above ground and underground. 

 

The Mining Technical Solutions Specialist is critical for the implementation of new and existing blasting technologies at customer sites and the provision of ongoing services for Surface and Underground applications. It is also accountable for managing the safe and reliable implementation of these blasting technologies which includes Safety Leadership, Project Implementation and Support, and Customer and Internal Communications. As part of the Canadian Technical Solutions Team, this will be accomplished by working with cross-functional project teams to deliver successful value-added outcomes.

 

Marshalling points are Vancouver, Kelowna, Smithers, BC or Calgary AB.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

 

 

Supporting the adoption and implementation of new technologies, including but not limited to, 4DTM Bulk System and WebGenTM Technologies, this role is responsible for:

 

(1)    Safety Leadership - As a technical leader within the region and customer’s site this role will:

  • Adhere to Orica’s and the customer’s Safe Operating Procedures & champion SHE initiatives relating to Technical Solutions and blasting related activities, Risk Management (Orica’s and the Customer’s) for processes relevant to the implementation.

 

(2)    Project Implementation and Support

  • Responsible for supporting all stages and aspects of implementation such as blast design and associated processes, equipment installation and training, and Key Performance Indicators tracking and reporting.

 

(3)    Customer and Internal Communication

  • Establishing regular communication schedules to determine use-cases for the blasting technologies, implementation logistics and progress tracking with customers and the relevant internal functions such as the Commercial, Digital Solutions and Marketing teams.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

 

  • Project Implementation Coordination experience
  • Solid communication and presentation skills
  • Solid computer ability is required with experience using Microsoft Office, and familiarity with CAD based software would be considered a strong asset.
  • Drill and Blast experience in both surface and/or underground mining required
  • Well-developed troubleshooting/problem solving and investigative capabilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to provide hands-on, on-site customer support is required.

  • Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering (Mining, Survey, Geology)

Compensation 

 

  • Salary Range: $89,000 - $117,600  CAD
  • Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan

 

(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
