We are hiring Casual Respiratory Therapists for the Pulmonary Function Department at Kelowna General Hospital. Shift times are 07:00-15:00, 07:30-17:29, and 07:30-19:45 on a casual, as-needed basis. About the position:
The Respiratory Therapist practices in accordance with the standards outlined by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) within a client- and family-centered care model. You will provide ongoing respiratory care in a multidisciplinary setting to clients with a variety of illnesses and diseases, including acute and chronic cardio-respiratory conditions. Working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will enhance quality of life from the perspective of clients and their families.
This role is primarily based in the Pulmonary Function Department, where you will perform comprehensive pulmonary function testing to assess lung capacity, airflow, gas exchange, and other aspects of respiratory health. Common tests you will conduct include spirometry, lung volume measurement, diffusion capacity tests, and arterial blood gas analysis. You will work closely with patients managing chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and interstitial lung disease, assisting in monitoring disease progression and evaluating treatment effectiveness. You will consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and best practices in respiratory care, maintain and advance clinical competence, and participate in committees, teams, and approved research projects as assigned.

Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy program.
Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Credentialing Exam. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
