Overview of Position
Cobra Mechanical is hiring an Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker (Level 1 to 4) to join our team. Candidates must be able to provide support for their supervisor and other staff, deliver high-quality service, and show they are willing to learn new concepts. As an apprentice, the incumbent will gain the opportunity to learn valuable knowledge under our employment. Experience gained will include working with commercial and industrial sheet metal ensuring all installations are installed to standards. This position will involve travel to job sites within Canada, with a typical rotation of 21 days on and 7 off.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of HVAC systems.
- Learn to lay out, measure, and mark sheet metal for cutting and shaping.
- Support the team in operating tools and equipment to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist in interpreting blueprints and specifications.
- Assist journeymen with day-to-day tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within the Sheet Metal trade as a registered apprentice.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the sheet metal trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Strong knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills and the ability to lead in a diverse environment
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work
- Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities
- Aware of the physical demands of the role
- Adherence to safety policies, procedures, and best practices
Work Conditions
Travel: Typical Shift is 21 days on 7 days off rotation (subject to change), ability to lift 50+ lbs., required safety equipment, hazards associated with the trade, work both indoors and outdoors, construction sites, noise, irregular hours.
