Job Title: Ambient Supervisor Reports to: Manager, Field and Emission Services Department: Emission Services Location: Calgary, Edmonton Basic Purpose: What is the overall function of the job?
- Supervise daily operations of Bureau Veritas’ Ambient Services Team
- Ensure that all Bureau Veritas Emission Monitoring Programs are completed as per provincial and federal regulations
- Support the team to ensure customer expectations are consistently met and the work is completed in the safest way possible
- To maintain and grow Bureau Veritas’ market share with existing and new clients through exceptional customer support
Key Accountability/Responsibilities: What specifically is this job expected to accomplish?

Prioritize and assign work to Emissions Staff

Ensure that all equipment is calibrated and in full working order for use in the field.

Communicate with customers to confirm or reschedule projects.

Lead and develop staff. This includes recruitment of new employees, setting objectives, evaluating performance and expectations, coaching and mentoring, working jointly with employees in the development of their career path, ensuring that adequate training is provided

Perform routine QA/QC activities on technicians and equipment
-
Implementation, maintenance and improvement of the management system
-
Identification of deviations from the management system, including standard operating procedures and work instructions
-
Initiation of actions to prevent or minimize such deviations.

Reporting to management on the performance of the management system and any need for improvement
-
Ensuring the effectiveness of field activities

Development, modification, verification and validation of methods
-
Analysis of results
-
Where applicable this may include statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
-
Report, review and authorization of results
-
Authorizing the resumption of work in the event that work has been halted due to nonconforming work or other reasons
-
Approving documents for adequacy

Training and authorization of personnel to perform field activities

Ensure the data from each project has been uploaded by technicians
-
Ensure reports are accurately generated and provided to clients in a timely manner
-
Provide technical expertise to Bureau Veritas staff and clients regarding Emission Monitoring programs and provincial/federal regulations

Lead shop & site safety/tail gate meetings. Perform hazard assessments, CTAs, Near Hit & Incident Reports

Recommend resource planning to Manager, Field and Emission Services

Input into budget process, managing supplies and equipment repair costs to budget
-
Understand and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, both internal and external
-
Supervise vehicles in the fleet, ensuring any maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner

All other responsibilities as assigned
Skills and Knowledge: What skills and knowledge are used to carry out job responsibilities and solve problems?
- 2-year technical diploma or equivalent experience;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience leading crews;
- Strong customer service attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service and quality results;
- Skilled in problem solving, effective communication, mentoring, coaching, customer service and leadership;
- You are ethical, dynamic, motivated and results oriented;
- Ability to investigate compliance issues and ability to address concerns to meet the client needs or to best manage client disappointments;
- Good driving record with less than 6 demerits;
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
Work Relationships
Internal: Emission Services Staff, Management Staff, and Sales Departments
External: Clients, competitors, government offices, couriers, etc.
Working Conditions: physical work environment, physical effort, visual and listening attention, and travel
- Office based with field support as necessary
- Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30
- Availability outside office hours for reporting or field staff support
- Changing priorities and balancing workload to meet tight deadlines;
- High level of multi‐tasking with large cross‐section of internal and external stakeholders;
