The Opportunity

The Skills Training Branch is seeking a proactive and innovative team player with excellent communication and analytical skills to join our team as a Program and Policy Analyst in Regina. The Policy and Program Analyst will provide support to a team of senior program analysts and contributes to the administration of the Canadian Adult Education Credential.

Reporting to the Director, Program Management and Accountability, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing data for research reports, policy documents and program development; collecting and verifying data from internal/external sources; monitoring data and identifying emerging trends to senior program analysts and management.
  • Conducting independent research and analysis to support and inform program, policy and process development.
  • Preparing a variety of written documents for approval and/or drafting program implementation plans which includes conducting consultations, writing and/or updating procedures and writing supporting documents.
  • Independently responding to inquiries regarding programs and providing timely written and verbal analysis and advice.
  • Providing administration services including reviewing, analyzing and assessing applications, request for eligibility or other accommodation requests.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and service providers to proactively address issues affecting the efficient and timely delivery of services and achieve customer service excellence.
  • Conducting monthly financial reconciliation of program expenditures.

An ideal candidate for this role requires:

  • An understanding of adult education and skills training in Saskatchewan as well as the Canadian Adult Education Credential.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work both independently and as a team member to develop good working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Diplomacy and effective communication skills, as well as advanced writing and analytical skills to provide solutions and strategic advice.
    Excellent computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through completion of a university degree in a related field, and relevant experience in program management, financial management and public policy development. Knowledge and experience in the education and/or post-secondary education sector will be an asset.
