POSITION: Payroll & Human Resources Coordinator
LOCATION: Mississauga, ON (onsite position)
MacDonald Search Group is a national permanent placement recruiting firm and we recruit on behalf of hiring companies.
Our client is one of the largest distributors in Canada of specialized industrial products with over 600 employees nationally and they are seeking a Payroll & Human Resources Coordinator to support end-to-end payroll and core HR administration in a multi-province environment. This role works closely with HR, Payroll, and Finance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and a strong employee experience.
Previous payroll experience is a MUST; previous human resources experience/exposure is a nice to have .
Responsibilities:
Payroll Support
- Train under the Payroll Manager to act as payroll backup
- Assist with full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple provinces
- Support weekly and biweekly payrolls, including commissions, bonuses, and allowances
- Maintain payroll data in ADP Workforce Now (payroll, time & attendance, reporting)
- Prepare payroll and audit reports; assist with year-end activities and remittances
- Stay current on federal and provincial payroll legislation
HR Administration
- Report to HR Manager
- Maintain employee files and HR records
- Prepare employee letters, reports, and headcount tracking
- Support benefits administration and vacation reconciliations
- Assist with recruitment postings, resume screening, and onboarding coordination
- Contribute to compliance initiatives and HR projects as needed
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education required; in HR, Business, or a related field
- 2+ years of payroll experience is mandatory; multi-province experience highly preferred
- PCP certification or in progress is an asset
- Strong knowledge of employment standards and payroll compliance
- High attention to detail, discretion, and organizational skills
- Outgoing and engaging personality
- Strong communication and stakeholder support skills
- Intermediate Excel skills
Compensation:
Base salary: 55-65K (based on experience)
