The position is to advance long baseline and atmospheric neutrino oscillation research on Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) experiment. The incumbent is expected to take the leading role in one or more of the areas of TRIUMF group involvement, including: the construction, assembly, commissioning, and calibration of the Intermediate Water Cherenkov Detector (IWCD) and Hyper-K LED mPMT; the data analysis of the Water Cherenkov Test Experiment (WCTE).
The position is expected to apply for the JSPS fellowship and stay in Japan for two years during the construction and commissioning period.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the construction, assembly, commissioning and calibration of the IWCD and HyperK LED mPMT system contributed by Canada.
- Contribute to the WCTE data analysis and apply it to the IWCD data analysis.
Supervision Exercised The position has no formal supervisory responsibilities, but co-supervise graduate students and undergraduate students on topic-by-topic basis.
Knowledge And Skills
- PhD in experimental particle physics or nuclear physics
- Detector operation
- Simulation and data analysis
- Problem solving skills based on physics principles in a systematic way.
- Oral and written communications.
Minimum Qualifications And Years Of Experience A PhD in particle or nuclear physics received within 5 years.

Work Hours: 35 hours per week
