The insurance industry is undergoing a technology revolution, and you will be in the driver’s seat with Pricing Transformation team. The team is focused on accelerating Aviva’s pricing sophistication journey in collaboration with our Analytics and Street Pricing teams.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst with Insurance Pricing background to turn complex data into confident decisions. You’ll lead data projects end‑to‑end—translating business needs into crisp data requirements, building reliable pipelines, validating and testing data at scale, and mentoring teammates along the way. What you’ll do:
- Shape requirements with stakeholders and convert them into structured, testable data specs and acceptance criteria.
- Lead data projects from discovery to delivery, coordinating scope, milestones, and risks across cross‑functional partners.
- Build & maintain pipelines (ELT/ETL), including code review and CI/CD best practices to keep quality high and releases predictable.
- Review code & mentor junior team members—elevating standards, patterns, and reusable components.
- Validate and test data using our Data Quality principles (accuracy, completeness, timeliness, validity, consistency) and document results.
- Champion data governance & ethics—help us design with fairness, transparency and regulatory expectations in mind.
- Best Practices & Version Control: Implement and promote coding standards, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust development workflows.
- Server & Environment Management: Assist in setting up and managing development environments, ensuring security, reliability, and performance.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with pricing analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to document processes, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8+ years in data analysis/analytics engineering or adjacent roles delivering production data assets.
- Advanced Knowledge in SQL, SAS, Python; strong data modeling (dimensional/data‑vault) and performance tuning.
- Hands‑on with Snowflake/AWS (or similar cloud data platforms), version control and CI/CD.
- Experience specifying and testing data requirements; comfort leading code reviews and mentoring teammates.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and best coding practices.
- Experience with insurance pricing/actuarial data or Canadian regulatory context.
