Job Summary Our client, a well-established industrial manufacturer serving customers across North America, is seeking an experienced Distribution Centre Manager to lead all aspects of operations at a high-volume facility. This position oversees the day-to-day management of warehouse activities, including logistics, inventory control, and team leadership, while ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency. Reporting to senior leadership, the role plays a critical part in optimizing warehouse performance, driving process improvements, and maintaining exceptional service standards across distribution operations.
The Role
- Lead all aspects of distribution operations to meet established targets for safety, quality, service, and efficiency.
- Oversee outbound shipments, stock transfers, and order fulfillment using warehouse management systems.
- Manage the implementation and continuous improvement of warehouse processes using Lean and 5S principles.
- Build, mentor, and coach a high-performing team, ensuring proper training and development in compliance with internal standards and applicable safety regulations.
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure alignment on fulfillment priorities and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate inventory control using RF technology, cycle counts, and regular audits to ensure integrity of data and stock levels.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets, monitor monthly performance, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee facility maintenance, equipment purchases, and vendor coordination in partnership with internal departments.
- Support and uphold corporate policies and safety standards, including compliance with workplace health, transportation, and environmental regulations.
The Ideal Candidate
- College or university degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution management, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience managing in a unionized environment and skilled in performance management and team development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement, and 5S methodologies to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
- Proficiency in RF technology, inventory accuracy programs, and warehouse management systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on leadership approach.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and accountability across teams.
