About the role

Hansen's Releasing Company “HRC” is part of the Hansen's Group, a proud Canadian company with over 45 years of experience in automotive transportation, logistics and facility management. We are currently seeking a Facility Manager to manage our Delta, British Columbia location.

HRC is contracted to provide comprehensive facility management; respecting and protecting our customer interests including direct services and indirect activities sourced by customer (i.e., security, snow removal).

We are contracted to provide services at standards not less than compliant to AAR established guidelines. We actively participate and engage to lead the industry in exceeding and evolving standards within the quality/safety beyond compliance.

Reporting to the General Manager – Hansen’s Releasing Company (HRC), the Facility Manager is responsible for facility operations and associated activity within the Delta, British Columbia Facility.

HRC’s direct responsibility, and the Manager's purpose is to manage resources effectively and efficiently to provide professional vehicle automotive handling services including offload, load, release, arrive, handle and administrate the flow of vehicles for several OEM customers and secondary market customers.

Job Duties

  • Labor Management - Manages all aspects of labor scheduling, planning and execution using the tools provided as described.
  • Evolution or enhancement suggestions and/or trial of support tools, process or other actions toward progressive improvement are a continual expectation.
  • Interview, hire, and performance manage staff in a timely manner.
  • Review and approves employee hours in company time and attendance system.
  • Assists and supports Automotive Handling Crew members as a “Hands-On Manager”
  • Provides staff a safe work environment free of harassment or unjust persecution in any form.
  • Leads our team to provide services damage free and compliant to established AAR quality guidelines.
  • Manages the relationship with all employees, working partners and activity of contracted service providers with a culture of respect.
  • Establishes, communicates and evaluates goals as agreed upon and provide progress updates.
  • Demonstrate 100% ownership of entire facility while managing all aspects of that facility.
  • Ensure Health & Safety inspections and safety meetings are held and documented..
  • Complete facility quality and safety audits.
  • Investigate and reduce all damage claims
  • Complete and submit daily reports.
  • Ensure employees are working safe and being productive.
  • Responsible to ensure entire facility is maintained as required.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Implement continuous improvement in all areas of facility.
  • Perform other duties may as deemed necessary by Management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicated effectively in French and English.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Clear Criminal Record required.
  • Excellent understanding of freight and movement.
  • Strong background in dispatch and load planning.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree related to Business Administration or Operations Management.

Work Conditions:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to stand, sit, talk, and hear for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and close visual ability are required.
  • Able to work outside in all types of weather including cold, heat, rain and snow.
  • Able to function in different environmental or seasonal conditions such as working around dust, pollen, etc.
