The Opportunity
Join BC Ferries, an essential part of British Columbia’s transportation network, and help shape the connections between coastal communities across the province. Our Accounting & Reporting team plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely external financial reporting and providing senior management with the accounting expertise needed to drive informed decision-making.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you’ll be part of a dynamic, results-driven team of accounting professionals. You are an analytical, detail-oriented finance expert who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at organization, time management, and prioritization.
The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
- Reviewing and interpreting new and existing International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
- Reconciling and analyzing complex accounts and preparing financial statements and working papers;
- Reviewing reconciliations and providing guidance to the financial analysts;
- Providing professional accounting advice and ensuring internal controls are met;
- Participating in cross-divisional working groups and project teams in the development, upgrade and implementation of financial systems;
Other potential areas of responsibility may include capital assets, Commissioner reporting, accounting for debt instruments, inventories, taxes, input tax credits, hedging and process & system enhancements.
What you bring to the team
- A professional accounting designation;
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial statement preparation and internal controls
- IFRS knowledge is an asset
- Experience in the use of current major financial software (Oracle preferred) and MS Office programs with excellent skills in Microsoft Excel

Additional information
The target salary range: $105,200 to $131,500 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
