What you’ll be doing
The threat and operational risk landscape is complex and continues to evolve. CIBC’s Chief Security Office is dedicated to safeguarding the organization’s assets, data, and operations against a wide array of threats and risks. Within our Chief Security Office, our Resilience and Fusion team is focused on identifying and responding to threats, understanding the resilience of our critical operations, executing a business continuity management program to ensure we are prepared for disruption, and responding to incident and crisis events.
When incidents impacting CIBC occur, our focus is on ensuring our employees are safe and impacts to our operations are minimized. Reporting to the VP, Resilience and Fusion, the Senior Director, Fusion Response will lead the day to day operations for the Fusion Response team. This includes people, strategy and execution leadership regarding monitoring, communicating, leading and responding to events and incidents affecting or could affect CIBC. This role works closely with all business units and risk management teams, to provide an effective and coordinated response to incidents affecting CIBC.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you’ll succeed
- Building world class teams: Lead the creation, implementation and operation of the Fusion Response team to effectively coordinate a cross-pillar approach (eg. Fraud, Cyber Security, Physical and Corporate Security, Business Continuity Management) to incidents (coordination, investigation and mitigation) impacting CIBC. Establish an incident communication team and its operating framework to provide timely executive awareness of actual or potential incidents/events and their impact on the business. Develop and manage relationships with executives and business leaders, including guiding collaboration with security pillars; in an effort to improve effectiveness and response to threats.
- Strategic Development, Execution and Continuous Improvement: Accountable for the Fusion Response mandate and strategy and roadmap for improvements, and ensuring effective procedures, processes, technology and data capabilities to support the effective operation of the Fusion Response team. For example, building and maintaining thresholds/severity matrix, escalations paths, incident playbooks and exercises, case management and investigations, and leading or collaborating on post incident reviews. Identify and escalate any systemic issues or reoccurring instances or security threats or trends to the appropriate business, risk or control functions as required. Proactively manage incidents through appropriate and timely incident (project) management and communication. Prepare and/or review post-incident reports to ensure effective lessons learned. Maintain metrics and reporting regarding the operational effectiveness of the team. Plan and conduct a variety of preparedness exercises designed to effectively test CIBC’s preparedness to events and coordinate CIBC participation in external preparedness events.
- Relationship Management: Partner with many stakeholders across business units and risk management and control group teams (eg. Information Security, Fraud, Technology, Physical and Corporate Security, Business Continuity Management). Manage and communicate key activities to senior executives across CIBC to relay important information on a timely basis. Act as an advisor to the business on all aspects of incident response, providing senior executives with a clear view of incidents and timely recommendations for response/recovery based on fact-based intelligence and analytics, aggregate monitoring, case management and insights from internal and external partners.
