Your Opportunity
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Property and Services, provides custodial services in the cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings and grounds and performs other related duties as required.
Functions and Duties
-
Maintains and cleans classrooms, offices, washrooms, cafeterias, storage rooms, hallways, and other assembly areas during operational and non operational hours of the facilities.

Removes stains on carpeting and follows shampoo procedures.
-
Ensures the preservation of building security.
-
Maintains and cleans grounds.
-
Affects minor painting of the interior and exterior of buildings.
-
Removes snow from steps and walkways.
-
Affects minor repairs and renovations to buildings, furniture and equipment.
-
Assembles and installs furniture and equipment, as well as relocate or rearrange same, as required.
-
Performs pick up and delivery duties in connection with custodial functions.
-
Performs lighting maintenance duties by replacing bulbs and tubes.
-
Reports major maintenance requirements to the Manager, Property and Custodial Services.

Ensures fire and occupational health and safety practices are followed.

Provides first aid to staff and students and maintains first aid supplies and first aid room.

Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus a Custodial Worker Certificate. Must possess valid Occupational First Aid – Level 2 – certificate. Over 6 months and up to and including 1 year related experience
Skills and Abilities

Skilled in the safe use of related equipment and cleaning materials.

Must maintain furniture and equipment in an orderly and clean manner.

Able to perform work of a routine nature with minimal or no direct supervision
-
Must have ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and exercise courtesy, tact and discretion.

Must be physically capable of performing the duties
