Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Director/, Hospital Services is currently seeking a Manager, Facility Operations & Maintenance. This role plays a critical part in supporting capital and redevelopment projects, ensuring operational readiness, and optimizing space utilization in collaboration with internal stakeholders and project delivery teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of healthcare facility operations, infrastructure systems, and capital project implementation
  • Expertise in construction project management, including contract administration and consultant/vendor oversight
  • Knowledge of master planning, space planning, and Ministry of Health capital planning and approval processes
  • Technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical), building automation systems, and fire/life safety systems
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, lifecycle planning, and facilities asset management principles
  • Understanding of applicable legislation and standards (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, Fire Code, Environmental Protection Act, Operating Engineers Act)
  • Experience with hazardous materials management (e.g., asbestos, refrigerants) and indoor air quality practices
  • Financial and operational planning knowledge, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and operational planning processes
  • Proficiency with systems such as CMMS (e.g., I-MAINT), building automation systems, and key management systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications; familiarity with AutoCAD and project management software
  • Strong leadership, labour relations, and performance management principles
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College diploma or university degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Operations, Construction Project Management, Architecture, or a related field (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting (Required)
  • Advanced progressive experience in healthcare facilities and infrastructure project planning and implementation (Required)
  • Completion of CHA management courses or equivalent, Project Management designation or relevant Trade certification (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades in a complex environment
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, consultants, and internal staff
  • Experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance and lifecycle asset management plans
  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing, managing, and forecasting operational and capital budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and budget targets
  • Experience overseeing facilities compliance programs, including fire safety, life safety, and regulatory inspections
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff, support engagement, and manage performance, including handling grievances and labour relations matters
  • Experience with contract development, vendor management, and service delivery oversight
  • Commitment to health, safety, and regulatory compliance in a hospital environment
