About the role

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this role is CAD $27.00. This role is current and available for applications.

Evonik Morrisburg site, is located just north of the St. Lawrence River and approximately one hour (80 km) south of Ottawa, 1.5 hours west of Montreal, and 3.5 hours east of Toronto. The site employs around 30 people and is a chemical manufacturing process that produces oil additives that improve the flow of oil at low temperatures and ensure adequate lubrication at high temperatures. In finished lubricants, these additives are optimally formulated to help reduce fuel consumption, reflecting Evonik’s focus on resource efficiency.

**THIS IS A ONE YEAR COOP TERM ***(STUDENTS ONLY)

Intern Job Description:

  • Develop PFD (Process Flow Diagrams) of process [To be used as training material and develop process manual]
  • Update P&ID as required from capital and MOC processes
  • Implement and lead MOC’s in plant as required.
  • Develop interfaces that track employee status on site for emergency head count
  • Develop entire programs, procedures and checklists, based on Ontario Regulations, Federal Regulations and PSM Standards
  • Define and implement solutions for PHA findings (design, consult, construct, implement).
  • Define and implement tools to calculate environmental emissions per regulatory requirements.
  • Development of maintenance plans to support Mechanical Integrity Programs.
  • Provide technical support and production support to a complex batch chemical production process, under the Supervision of other Engineers.
  • Develop Process Safety Information (PFD, P&ID) as required.
  • Develop KPI systems for Site Management Team (e.g.: Power BI, SharePoint, etc.).

Requirements

  • 3rd year (or more) Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Student
  • Minimum of 1 previous work term in an industrial setting, preferably in a chemical manufacturing process
  • Ability to work independently, network with personnel across the facility
  • Strong computer, organizational and communication skills
  • Previous experience working with updates to drawings (e.g. CAD) is desirable.

Position is in a Chemical Manufacturing facility in Morrisburg Ontario (~45 min drive from Ottawa)
