UX Designer - Senior (RQ10440) Client: Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement
Work Location: 87 Sir William Hearst Ave, Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid - 3 days in office)
Contract: April 1, 2026 - March 31, 2027 (250 business days + 134 extension)
Hours: 7.25 hours per day
Security Level: No Clearance Required
About The Role Senior UX Designer following Ontario Digital Service Design playbook across 4 delivery phases (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live). This hybrid role facilitates user research, creates clickable prototypes, conducts usability/accessibility testing, develops user stories for Agile sprints, and ensures mobile-first/responsive designs using Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, InVision, and JustInMind.
Must Haves
- Extensive UX design best practices; mobile-first/responsive design expertise.
- 3+ years complex projects using user-centered design and Agile/Scrum.
- Expertise: JustInMind, InVision, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, Figma, Zeplin.
- HTML5/CSS3/JS (React/Angular/NodeJS) as plus.
- Strong communication/mediation with business/core teams.
- Enterprise/Application/Integration/Data architecture knowledge.
Delivery Phases & Deliverables Phase 1: Discovery
- Kick-off facilitation: Business Model Canvas, User Personas, Stakeholder Mapping, Problem Statement
- User research: Interview scripts, synthesis, findings reports
- Inception showcase; User Storyboards, Technical Service Blueprints, KPIs
Phase 2: Alpha
- Google Ventures 5-Day Design Sprint (optional)
- Clickable prototypes; usability testing; research findings
- Business proposal; Beta feature prioritization; solution vision
Phase 3: Beta (Scrum)
- User story creation/validation: Sketching workshops, design iterations, interviews
- Agile ceremonies: Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog grooming, Retrospectives
- Accessibility compliance testing per iteration
- Regular MVP usability testing
Phase 4: Live
- Continuous user research/interviews
- Live build accessibility/usability testing
- Usage analytics/KPI tracking
Experience And Skill Set Requirements Enterprise & Technology Architecture (50%)
- Enterprise architecture guidance for strategic/prototype/target state documentation
- Technology interaction analysis; pattern/decision-tree frameworks
- Emerging technology evaluation aligned to organizational goals
- Public sector/health sector breadth/depth
General Skills (30%)
- Leadership in enterprise/domain architecture implementation
- Multi-platform/OS/database/comms experience
- ITIL/COBIT process design; business requirements translation
- Conceptual/logical/physical models; TOGAF/Zachman frameworks
- Composable architecture/microservices/data decentralization

Position Details

Required Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate senior UX expertise across complete Digital Service lifecycle with proven Agile/Scrum delivery, advanced prototyping (Figma/Axure/InVision), accessibility testing, user research mastery, and enterprise architecture alignment for complex public sector health projects.
