JANITOR (Part-Time) – Extendicare York
Candidates are invited to apply for the part time position of Janitor to work at our Extendicare York facility located in Sudbury, Ontario.
Reporting to Support Services Manager**,** the Janitor is responsible for floor care and for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of floor areas in common areas, entrances and resident households.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular scheduled floor maintenance in resident areas and the overall facility environment:
- Duties include
- sweeping , vacuuming, dusting, mopping, scrubbing and waxing as well as
- disinfecting, garbage removal, furniture cleaning and placement
- Uses floor maintenance equipment including vacuum cleaners, auto floor scrubbers, polisher / burnishers, steam cleaners and carpet cleaning machines in a safe proficient manner observing preventative maintenance requirements
- Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, and safety and infection control.
- Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs.
- Other duties as assigned by Support Services Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous janitor experience in long term care setting desirable
- Ability to read and write English as well as to understand verbal and written instructions in English
- Physically fit and able to meet the requirements of the position
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Team player committed to quality service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Successful candidate must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
