SAIT's Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) team is seeking experienced instructors to deliver high-quality training on High Performance Design and Construction. This is a contract, as-needed role, with flexible scheduling to accommodate project-specific and course delivery requirements.

Our Continuing Education opportunities are typically scheduled during daytime and evenings to suit a diverse learner population. Our learners are mature, focused, and want to be challenged.

The instructor's role is to professionally manage the learning process of the students and to ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. The instructor is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.

The Role

Prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities, and lab demonstrations for learners, if applicable, given the course outline.

Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism, and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline.

Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment.

Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning.

Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to students.

Attend all SAIT training as required.

Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines, and safety standards as required.

Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors.

Qualifications

Minimum Post-secondary Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture. An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.

Demonstrated expertise in energy-efficient design, building science, and sustainable construction. Proven experience as an instructor, trainer, or educator, preferably in adult/professional learning environments.

Integrating high-performance principles into new or existing designs, including alternate assemblies, materials, mechanical systems, and penetration details.

Experience with a Learning Management System considered an asset.

Experience in facilitating online and in-person considered an asset.

Basic level of Proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.

Ability to read, interpret, and deliver specific curriculum.
