Our team is seeking a dynamic and service-driven  Community Investment Strategist  for a  2-year term  opportunity within our Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships team. This role will be responsible for creating the Economic Development Strategy and leading various Economic Development Projects and Initiatives. Additionally, this role will play a critical part in delivering coordinated, high-quality support to businesses, developers, and investors interacting with the City.

Reporting to the  Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships Manager , this position is central to advancing Lethbridge’s “one-window business support” model ensuring a clear, responsive, and streamlined experience for those looking to invest in our community.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Create and present the Economic Development Strategy that aligns with City Council’s goals and priorities.
  • Act as the lead on various strategic community and economic development projects and initiatives, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Build and facilitate strong partnership with external resources to best utilize consultation support.
  • Act as the  primary point of contact  for investment-related inquiries, supporting stakeholders in navigating City processes from opportunity to action.
  • Support the City’s efforts to strengthen relationships with local and regional economic development stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to deliver seamless customer experience to prospective investors.
  • Provide ongoing strategic guidance to ensure internal alignment with Council’s economic development goals.
  • Contribute to long-term planning by ensuring the City is agile, future-focused, and able to meet evolving community and business needs.
  • Champion a  culture of service excellence , proactive problem-solving, and collaborative engagement with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A degree in Business, Economic Development, Land Use Planning, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience working in economic development is required.
  • Previous experience working in municipal or other levels of government is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives such as strategic plans, process improvement or the development of new policies.
  • Experience leading and influencing change across departments or organizations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance big-picture goals with operational realities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for public service and community building.

The salary range for this position is $96,661.50 - $120,802.50 per year, commensurate with experience.
