Position Summary
The Mentorship Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering our newly launched Newcomer Mentorship: Pathway to Expertise, program, which aims to connect skilled newcomer with local professionals. The coordinator manages all aspects of the program, including recruiting and training job-seeking mentees, onboarding local mentors, and smart mentorship pairing and monitoring the progress of matched pairs and providing ongoing follow- up support to ensure the program's success. This position requires strong organizational skills and passion for helping newcomers expand their professional circle and achieve long-term employment success.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, Social Services or other related fields
- Training and experience in program coordination, employment counselling, job coaching and instruction including the development and delivery of employment-related workshops/training
- Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in working with newcomers to Canada, including those with limited English language skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with diverse individuals
- Displaying in-depth knowledge of market trends, available training, educational and employment opportunities, job competencies, employer requirements and community resources
- Ability to research, identify, develop and manage professional content suitable to the learning needs of the clients. This includes creating and maintaining mentorship toolkits, comprehensive resource guides and pre- and- post program assessment surveys.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organization skills
- Experience in event planning and coordination skills for professional functions and networking events

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a comprehensive mentorship program by developing all necessary program materials, training modules and evaluation tools.
- Develop and execute strategies to recruit qualified mentors from various professional backgrounds.
- Match participants with mentors based on compatibility, expertise, and development objectives.
- Manage the onboarding process for all participants and mentors, ensuring clear expectations and guidelines are communicated.
- Identify client barriers to employment and assist them with the career action plan development. The coordinator will facilitate foundation job readiness support (resume and interview) and refer clients to the specialized Employment Counselor team for an in-depth one-on-one coaching.
- Monitor the program to track progress and address issues or concerns within mentorship pairings.
- Maintain current knowledge of labor market trends, available training, and effective job search techniques.
- Coordinate and maintain accurate and organized records of program logistics, including schedules, resources, participants, matches, and program activities.
- Enter client data into the database, maintain clients' progress notes, and submit monthly and annual reports to the Employment Services Manager, analyzing program data to assess outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Job Developers to facilitate and execute professional networking events (including industry-specific information sessions, webinars, hiring events, and annual career fair).
- Connect with the job developers to tap into the hidden job market and employment opportunities for clients.
- Refer clients to alternate internal employment programs and departmental events.
- Perform other position-related duties as needed
Salary Level
The annual salary for this position starts at $54,440.59 ($31.02 per hour) at Step 1 of RODS' Professional Category 1. Pay periods are the end of the day on the 15th of the month and the end of each month.
Working Conditions and Application Instructions
The standard work hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM, with an hour unpaid lunch break and earned day off (EDO) every second week.
All positions at RODS require a clean criminal record check. There is a cost- shared benefits package and a 3% pension contribution available to the employee upon successful completion of a six- month probationary period.
