The Position:
The Controls Hardware Design Co-op will contribute to machine concepts, support electrical designs for projects in various industries, provide research and contribute to hardware device selection to meet design specifications, perform electrical engineering calculations to validate designs, and interface with team members from other departments while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assist in the design and development of electrical designs to meet customer and project requirements based on standard Eclipse methods
• Provide electrical design assistance during the various stages of machine integration
• Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating or panel heat loss/cooling
• Work with other members of the Controls Engineering department and other groups to continuously improve methods of electrical design, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost
• Support electrical design and project resources in solving problems to provide the customer with a complete and functional automation system
• Support accurate documentation requirements for each project
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings
• Complete other duties and projects as assigned
• Ensure scheduled milestones are met
• Notify the Project Lead or appropriate departments if milestones are not projected to be met by expected due dates
• Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
• Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse Corporate Vision
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
• Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business

What We’re Looking For:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in robotics & automation, electrical/controls systems, mechatronics or computer engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD or EPLAN would be an asset
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to establish priorities and work with minimal supervision
• Advanced computer skills in Excel
• Team player and able to coordinate activities with other departments
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Students should be enrolled in a post-secondary academic program that requires successful completion of a co-op/work term.
