Job Overview: A Data Center Technician plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a data center by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and network equipment. This entry-level position requires hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Technicians work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure uptime, performance, and security standards are consistently met.

Job requirements

Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, and data center infrastructure.
-
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware issues and performing component replacements.
-
Familiarity with cable management, labeling standards, and physical network setup.
-
Experience using ticketing systems and asset tracking tools.
-
Effective communication skills and ability to follow technical documentation and procedures.

Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+)
-
Class 5 driver’s license is required.
Job responsibilities
-
Perform routine hardware maintenance, diagnostics, and replacements for servers and related infrastructure.
-
Monitor data center environmental conditions and escalate issues related to power, cooling, or connectivity.
-
Coordinates incoming requests and work assignments to support customer orders; works on routine customer requests.
-
Provide support for customer installations within the data center, including rack and stack of equipment, cage builds, overhead ladder rack and fiber trough, cabinets and cable management/support systems.
-
Track and update inventory, asset tags, and documentation for hardware installations and removals.
-
Follow and enforce security protocols for physical access, data protection, and equipment handling. Escort equipment vendors.

Collaborate with remote engineering teams to support system deployments, upgrades, and incident resolutions.

Maintain accurate inventory records for all HPC hardware and associated components.
-
Ensure accuracy in installations, documentation, and hardware handling.

Quickly identifies and resolves technical issues under pressure.

Reliable and consistent in following protocols and completing tasks on time.

Works collaboratively with on-site and remote teams to maintain uptime and service quality.
