Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.
Position Overview
Are you passionate about empowering Indigenous and multi-barriered individuals to find meaningful, sustainable employment? We're looking for a driven and compassionate Employment Counselor/Job Coach who thrives on building connections—with clients, employers, and communities. If you're ready to make a real impact by guiding clients through barriers and into opportunity, we want to hear from you!
Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing client eligibility and employment readiness, identifying barriers, and developing tailored return-to-work action plans. This includes providing job coaching, resume development, and support with applications for training, wage subsidies, and other employment programs. The role involves administering financial supports in line with WorkBC policies, maintaining accurate records and reports, and meeting performance and outcome targets. A key focus is on building employer and community relationships to generate job leads and promote client success in achieving sustainable employment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in employment counseling or a combination of relevant education and experience, with a strong focus on supporting multi-barriered and Indigenous clients. A Career Development Practitioner certificate is an asset. Candidates must demonstrate strong assessment skills, solid knowledge of labour market trends and community resources, and be proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new systems, including ICM.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a patient, results-oriented approach when working with clients facing multiple barriers or disabilities, and thrive in a performance-based environment focused on sustainable employment outcomes. They should have a solid understanding of long-term interventions, including wage subsidies, and be skilled in resume writing to current industry standards. Strong organizational skills, cultural sensitivity, confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. A second language is considered an asset.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
