Under the limited direction of the Section Head, will provide activities related to the contract administration and construction
management of small to complex construction projects from the tendering stage to overall close out. This role will also provide
construction support for the HVDC Reliability project.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide construction support for the HVDC Reliability project throughout the scope development phase through the

construction phase - for north and south portions.

  • Lead development of overall project Engineering, and/or procurement, and/or construction plans including resource

requirements, estimating, procurement strategies and risk assessment.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including external workforce, as required to support construction, construction management,

specification preparation scheduling, estimating, material procurement, project controls and contract administration activities.

  • Lead the preparation of RFx contracts for Engineering and construction, acting as technical contact for clarifications, and

preparation of addendums as required.

  • Lead coordination with internal Supply Chain Management and Law Departments to prepare, tender, negotiate, contract

award, and lead the administration of contracts.

  • Makes decisions specific to cost vs. environmental, safety and community engagement impacts and makes recommendations

on issues of greater scope.

  • Evaluate, provide feedback, and select and negotiate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Collaborates with contractors, consultants, and suppliers in service/product delivery, providing specialized technical advice.
  • Lead, assist or direct & review analysis and review of contract claims, preparation, and approval of change orders.
  • Conducts complex technical interaction with contractors, consultants, and suppliers with respect to Engineering, procurement,

construction, environment, community engagement and safety, including service/market evaluation and development.

  • Ensure compliance with government and Manitoba Hydro regulations including workplace safety and environmental rules and

regulations.

  • Keep abreast of latest developments in areas such as construction methods and environmental and safety management as

they relate to construction.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate in Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with seven years of related experience.
  • Additional training in project management practices would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in HVDC station and/or substation construction projects
  • Demonstrated depth of experience in initiation and execution of contracts, experience working collaboratively with Supply

Chain Management, and experience resolving complex claims and disputes.

  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba

Hydro policy P45D.

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.
  • Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a

specified amount of time)

  • Demonstrated project management experience associated with initiating and coordinating projects.
  • Willing to work extended periods of time in remote locations in Manitoba.
  • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and ability to interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the

Corporation.

  • Capable of applying engineering principles in dealing with involved and adverse technical problems.
  • Good computer skills including experience with scheduling software, collaborative file sharing software, SharePoint and

Microsoft Office suite software.

  • May be required to assist with contract administration and construction management in a field office for periods of time

anywhere in Manitoba.

  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
